We teach our classes at Huguenot Memorial Park. This state park is located just north of the May Port Ferry dock on A1A. It is a perfect place to learn to windsurf. The water is clear and warm 9 months of the year. It is a protected bay with many sand bars and for the most part is only 4 or 5 feet deep except for the main channel. The bay is about a square mile in size with safe shores on 3 sides. It has full camping, restroom, a food/supplies store and shower facilities. You can park right on the beach and windsurfers have their own beach parking area. The wind is great for learning from May through September (5 to 12 knots) with stronger winds for level 3 and up October through April. We teach levels 1 through 3 here and students really learn fast! Especially the beginners!
